A public health nurse and a midwife of Kitcharao Municipal Health Office in Agusan del Norte were ambushed Wednesday, November 27.
According to a report by Police Regional Office 13, the health workers came from a polio vaccination drive when they were ambushed at Brgy. Road in Kalipayan, Sitio Zapanta Valley, Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte.
The ambush, which happened at 2:00PM of November 27, was allegedly perpetrated by fully armed groups believed to be members of the Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army (CPP-NPA).
Authorities identified the victims as INGRID RAMOS ARCHINUE, 46 years old, Head Nurse of Kitcharao Municipal Health Office, and a resident of Brgy. Songkoy, Kitcharao, and JENIFER MORALES VETERBO, 28 years old, a Midwife, and a resident of P-1, Brgy. Mahayahay, Kitcharao, Agusan drl Norte.
Accordingly, Archinue was driving a dark gray Toyota Innova from Zapanta Valley going to the National highway of Brgy. Bangayan in Kitcharao, when the ambush happened.
Suspects fired towards the vehicle hitting its front windshield (driver side).
