Department of Health (DOH) is once again calling nurses and other health workers to volunteer in fight against Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In its official social media accounts, DOH posted that there are vacancies for doctors, nurses, nurse assistants, and hospital orderlies who will heed the call to serve.
Those who will volunteer will be assigned to one of the three COVID-19 Referral Hospitals (Lung Center, Philippine General Hospital or Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital). They will undertake an 8-hour shift every day and will work for 14 consecutive days.
Once complete, these healthcare warriors will do a mandatory on-site quarantine for 14 days (think of it as a short holiday). The work will involve direct contact with COVID-19 patients.
The hospitals will provide you with the personal protective equipment to help reduce risks of exposure.
The work will be a voluntary position is for one month, and will be provided with accommodation and food for the entire duration.
For compensation, nurses will be paid Php 500 for every day of this month-long contribution.
The Department of Health will provide an insurance of a cash compensation of Php 100,000 to public and private health workers who may contract severe COVID-19 infection on duty, and Php 1 million to public and private health workers who may die fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
